Career Coaching

For the last few years, I have been practising as a Board-Certified Lifestyle Physician. I have been a medical doctor for over 20 yrs practising as a Consultant Paediatrician in UK. I did my initial training and education in India. As a Lifestyle Physician I have been helping individuals make lifestyle adjustments to overcome their medical problems and even manage with little or no medication. Diet, activity, sleep, and management of stress are pillars of Lifestyle Medicine. They are central to managing illnesses brought about by poor lifestyle choices.

Lisa has a particular expertise in doctors’ careers, having worked for the NHS for 15 years, predominately with doctors during their first two years of training. Since September 2017, she has become an independent freelance coach. She’s coached doctors at all levels of their training, including International Medical Graduates, as well as SAS doctors, consultants and GPs.

The three words she’d use to describe herself are: conscientious, thoughtful and empathetic. She approaches each session with an attitude of ‘unconditional positive regard’, which is a phrase coined by Carl Rogers, a humanist psychologist in the 1950s. She is also driven by helping the individual to understand their key priorities, strengths and areas for growth, empowering them to make their next steps.

Lisa is dual-qualified as a career guidance counsellor and a leadership coach. Her professional qualifications include a PG Diploma in Careers Education and Guidance with the University of Warwick and a PG Certificate in Leadership Coaching with the University of Middlesex.

She holds professional membership of the Careers Development Institute (CDI) and the Association of Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors (APECS).

Lisa also runs workshops on career planning and interview preparation workshops for foundation doctors, SAS doctors and Internal Medical Trainees. In addition, she has trained NHS consultants in their role of providing careers guidance to the junior doctors under their supervision.

Mat is a Paediatric ENT consultant, with an NHS career spanning 29 years. He has a PhD, a Masters in Medical Education, and is a qualified coach. He is the undergraduate ENT lead at his local University, and a medical appraiser, and has in the past been a Training Programme Director. He undertakes research, collaborates with private sector, and has been awarded research grants, won prizes, and been nominated in recognition of his leadership. His offers career management coaching for doctors, helping doctors have successful and meaningful careers in a profession they love.

Dr Anjalee Perera is a writer, Marketing and Communications consultant, and Founder of Disillusioned Medic.

Anjalee left her job as an NHS doctor in 2015 and began writing her blog ‘The Disillusioned Medic’, in which she detailed the practical and emotional challenges of leaving medicine.

Her five year marketing career has spanned a number of industries, including Health Tech, Management Consultancy, Recruitment, Public Relations, Media and Pharmaceuticals. Her specialist interest is Strategic Marcoms.

Disillusioned Medic has also grown since its foundation into a career coaching service for other disillusioned doctors, offering support and guidance for career-questioning medics.

I've created a 121 video service based on my substantial background in clinical governance, serving as both an appraiser and a Responsible Officer. This service is intended to support physicians in various aspects, such as advancing their careers, relocating internationally (mainly to the UK), securing a training number, transitioning to the specialist register, or exploring alternative career paths for those seeking to move away from clinical practice.
